EWE OSS specializes in project development as well as operation and maintenance of offshore facilities.
The company, headquartered in Oldenburg (Germany) with locations in Emden and Borkum, generated annual sales of 30 million euros in 2019 and employs 160 people.
EWE OSS is a market leader as a specialist for the operations management and maintenance services of offshore wind farms in the North Sea with an own control centre and 24/7 standby teams, and providing services for their project development and engineering support. Among other things, it has in-depth know-how in the areas of substations, as well as IT and communications technology.
With this acquisition, VINCI Energies will strategically expand its brand Omexom, dedicated to the energy transition, and its services to the off-shore wind market. The company will be developed into VINCI Energies’ offshore competence center – a milestone in its evolution into a full-service provider for offshore substations. VINCI Energies will take over all employees and all locations of EWE OSS. The Alpha Ventus, Riffgat and TWB II offshore wind farms will remain in the ownership of EWE.
“With this acquisition, we are not only investing in a growth market, but above all in CO2-neutral energy generation and thus in more sustainability. We are gaining a competence platform to extend our existing services and expand them to other markets and countries. This will enable us to develop into a leading independent service provider in the offshore wind power business,” said Frank Westphal, Managing Director of VINCI Energies Deutschland Industry & Infrastructure GmbH.
Dr. Urban Keussen, Chief Technical Officer of EWE AG: “With EWE OSS we have developed an offshore pioneer over many years that has good growth prospects. The current disposal process is a consequence of this realignment and EWE’s focus on expanding onshore wind energy. In the VINCI Group, EWE OSS has the promising growth and development opportunities that we wish this dedicated and ambitious team“.
Irina Lucke and Dr. Jan-Dirk kleine Holthaus, Managing Directors of EWE OSS add: “This transition means more to us than just a strategic partnership. EWE Offshore Service & Solutions GmbH sees excellent opportunities in the new group structure to further expand its services and gain access to new markets through synergy effects“.
Following the acquisition by VINCI Energies, EWE Offshore Service & Solutions GmbH will be renamed Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore GmbH. It will become the new Offshore division within the Omexom Transformation business line in Germany.
