The iconic Royale Belge listed heritage building in Watermael-Boitsfort, Belgium, has been transformed to perform a range of new functions. VINCI Energies Belgium took on this complex renovation challenge through its business units Cegelec HVAC Commercial South and ITB, winning two MIPIM awards in the process.
The former Royale Belge building has undergone a major renovation in order to meet an extremely wide range of technical requirements. Through its business units Cegelec HVAC Commercial South and ITB, VINCI Energies Belgium was responsible for the HVAC and electrical engineering batches, as part of the CIT Blaton team.
The building now boasts a 180-room four-star hotel, modern offices, a fitness centre with swimming pools, a 300-seat auditorium and a dining area, and has been renovated to meet these new needs. The installation of new technologies in a listed heritage building from the 1960s required close coordination between all stakeholders to achieve the desired results in a very tight time frame.
Cegelec HVAC Commercial South was responsible for HVAC installations, including a new electricity plant for heat and cold production, ventilation systems, hydraulic distribution, and terminal units. ITB managed the electrical installations, which included a new high-voltage board and master mains voltage board, generators, distribution boards, cabling, lighting and the fire detection system.
The project, which ran from summer 2021 to spring 2023, won two awards at the MIPIM property event.
