Axians recently promoted a unique event in Portugal aimed at students in STEM subjects. These students came together to beat the world record for the largest programming class.
Portugal recently hosted an international-scale event: the world’s largest-ever programming class. Supported by Axians Portugal, the event, organised by Magma Studio and the student association at the Instituto Superior Técnico, involved 1,668 participants, all united by their passion for technology, knowledge and learning. It also received support from Lisbon’s municipal government, Unicorn Factory Lisboa and the Técnico Innovation Center.
Axians Portugal, in partnership with other major companies, not only supported this event, but has also demonstrated its overall commitment to digital education and the support to young talents in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subject areas. Axians Portugal also provided annual financial support for seven students, one per each year of activity in Portugal, as an additional token of its engagement with the institution and society.
The event clearly highlighted the vitality of Portugal’s universities. Breaking this world record is a remarkable achievement, and one which reflects the excellence and commitment of the country’s academic institutions. And of Instituto Superior Técnico, in particular. Its participants expressed joy and pride in their contribution to this feat. Mehakpreet Khosa, a student at the Instituto Superior Técnico, said: “As an IT specialist, I loved the programming theme. The lecturers were excellent, and I really enjoyed the event.”
