VINCI Energies Italia has made a donation of high-quality used furniture to a Verona prison, as part of a social and professional reintegration project for inmates. This initiative was managed in collaboration with UNIVERSO COOPERATIVA SOCIALE Onlus.
In 2021, in collaboration with the UNIVERSO COOPERATIVA SOCIALE Onlus association, Axians Italia (VINCI Energies Italia) launched the NIC (NOC In Carcere, lit. NOC in prison) project at the Seconda Casa di Reclusione di Milano-Bollate, a prison located near Milan.
NIC is a high-level training programme, which qualifies and certifies participating inmates in corporate computer networking and cybersecurity. The objective is to offer them opportunities to reintegrate professionally and socially by enabling them to work remotely on projects for Axians customers in Italy.
Building on the NIC project’s success in Milan, VINCI Energies is renewing its commitment by extending the scheme to the prison in Verona and donating unused office furniture from its premises in Milan. The donated furniture will be used to equip new spaces inside the prison, providing improved working and training conditions for inmates taking part in the programme.
“This initiative represents a real step toward supporting projects that have a positive impact on the community,” says Thomas Panozzo, Managing Director of VINCI Energies Italia. “We are proud to be able to contribute to the creation of more functional, more welcoming spaces for the prison in Verona, underlining our commitment to supporting social inclusion initiatives. ”
Emphasising the importance of this project, Roberto Corraro, Managing Director of Axians Italia, adds: “The NIC project has already proved its value in Milano-Bollate Prison, offering inmates opportunities for training and professional development. Extending this initiative to Verona is a major success and illustrates our contribution to the creation of synergies between the world of work and social reintegration schemes.”
