Actemium has entered into a technological and commercial cooperation agreement with French start-up Energo. Aimed at developing innovative methanation technology on an industrial scale, the agreement supports industry decarbonisation.
French start-up Energo has developed a unique procedure that uses CO2 by mixing it with hydrogen to convert it into methane by means of an innovative patented methanation process.
The process relies on a cold-plasma catalytic reactor which, thanks to CO2 captured on site and combined with hydrogen, makes it possible to produce methane 50 times faster than a conventional catalyst.
In July 2022, Energo reached its first major milestone by becoming the first French business to inject synthetic methane into the national GRDF gas distribution network from its pilot demonstration scheme in Picardy in northern France, in cooperation with ENGIE’s R&D centre Lab Crigen.
Energo is now looking to Actemium to support it in its next step, which involves developing a larger-scale demonstrator that meets industry requirements.
By joining forces with this innovative start-up, Actemium is helping to structure the French hydrogen sector with the development of new industrial decarbonisation solutions.
