When she was young, Sabrina Pilon, a fitter at Cegelec Tours Infras, could not see herself in an office or behind a computer. She didn't hesitate to take a training course that would give her the opportunity to work outdoors.
A choice she has always made
“When I say that I am a bricklayer, people generally don’t believe me. And yet, this job is my passion. My parents always told me that the most important thing was to be happy to go to work when I got up in the morning. I knew that an office job was not for me“, says Sabrina Pilon.
“At 26, I decided to go back to school. I obtained a degree in Landscape Masonry/Exterior Design in Tours.”
I chose this profession because I am an outdoor person!
A woman bricklayer is not very common… Anyway, I’m good at it.
A new professional life
“After eleven years in a small family company, I heard that Omexon Distribution Tours was looking for bricklayers! It was a stroke of luck,” says Sabrina Pilon. She sums up her job: “As a bricklayer, I install boxes and do earthworks, including shoveling, as well as asphalt work.”
A job that is often shared with other colleagues: “Depending on internal or external demands and requests, I can work in pairs with a colleague and sometimes alone when it is not necessary to work in pairs“, she says.
Every day is different
Sabrina Pilon carries out masonry work on a mini excavator every day. The tonnage can vary from 1.5 tonnes to 16 or 22 tonnes, depending on the need. But whatever, with her EB licence + CACES, she wouldn’t change her job even if the weather conditions are not always favourable.
“If I chose this job, it’s because I’m an outdoor person! I like to move around, to be versatile, to go just about everywhere. A woman bricklayer is not very common… Anyway, I’m good at it.”
