A builder’s challenges

As the head of VINCI Energies Finland, Veera Höglund is helping to build critical infrastructure in a country whose aim is to achieve energy self-sufficiency in the short term.

Veera Höglund began her career aged 24at the Finnish public energy company Tampereen Vera. In six years, she progressed from Development Manager to Executive Vice President. Having quickly run out of room for manoeuvre in this small company, she joined Infratek, a Norwegian company specialised in electrical supply networks, public lighting and rail transport systems. In 2016, she became CEO of the Group’s Finnish business. After the 2018 acquisition of Infratek by VINCI Energies, the then 36-year-old was appointed Country Manager at VINCI Energies Finland, which currently employs 500 people.

Her professional advancement is consistent with her ambitions for what comes next. “The prospects for growth are considerable in a country like Finland, which is aiming for energy self-sufficiency within the next few years,” says Veera Höglund. “Our expertise in the construction and maintenance of energy infrastructure is an incredible asset.” With her teams, she is currently working on a major electricity distribution site for a huge infrastructure project in Finland, on behalf of the electricity distribution company Aurora Infrastructure. “We are working on this complex project in collaboration with Eitech Special Projects AB, another VINCI Energies brand that is lending us its expertise in managing complex, large-scale construction projects in Sweden.”
