Another child saved thanks to our Coureurs du Coeur!

Victoire, a one-year-old Ivorian girl, recently benefited from vital surgery with the charity Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque.

On 6 July, 50 VINCI Energies Coureurs du Coeur took part in L’Étape du Tour cyclosportive to save the lives of children with heart abnormalities. Thanks to their efforts, five children will now receive heart surgery. Just like Dieynaba and King, two children saved before her, a one-year-old Ivorian girl named Victoire recently received surgery through the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque initiative.

Having been diagnosed with a serious congenital heart defect, Victoire was in need of urgent surgical intervention. Unable to access sufficient technical resources locally, Victoire’s doctor and parents wasted no time in sending her medical file to the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque team.

Victoire was suffering from transposition of the great vessels (TGV), a complex and debilitating heart condition. With this condition, the main arteries leaving the heart are abnormally positioned, causing severe cyanosis due to the resulting lack of oxygen.

Victoire was hosted by a volunteer family in the Bordeaux area and underwent successful surgery at the Haut Lévèque Hospital in Bordeaux. After a few days in hospital, she returned to her host family in fine health.

Today, Victoire is back with her parents in Côte d’Ivoire, where she can now grow up like any other girl her age.
