At VINCI Energies Germany, Welcome Days for new employees are not just an opportunity to introduce the business unit and its activities. They are also times for highlighting VINCI Energies solidarity commitments, such as the partnership with Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque.  

Since 2017, VINCI Energies has been supporting Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, a charity that brings children with heart defects to France for surgical treatment if the financial and technical means to treat them are not available in their home countries.    

At each orientation day for new employees, VINCI Energies Germany organises a workshop where they are invited to collect points, which the business unit then converts into donations to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque. 

This initiative raised the money to fund a vital operation for Zoe, a young girl from Cameroon just four years old. She was living with a congenital heart defect known as Tetralogy of Fallot. This condition causes altered blood flow to the lungs, and children with this defect become tired very quickly when playing or exercising. 

Having been identified by a paediatric cardiologist in Cameroon, Zoe was referred to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque for an operation in France. She was hosted by a family in Alsace and underwent successful surgery in Strasbourg on 29 May before returning in fine health to her family in Cameroon.
